Permanent Values in a Changing World

Fundraising

Volunteers of all ages, including whole families, run fundraising activities for projects at home and overseas.

These range from cake sales and fashion shows to pub quiz evenings and sponsored silence. Carol singing, supermarket checkout packing and donations instead of birthday presents – it can all make a difference to your chosen project whether that is Hazelwood House in Glasgow or medical insurance for children in Kenya.

 'Pedal, pedal, pedal'

Sophia and a group of friends cycled from London to Oxford. Sophia commented, 'I am not very sporty and my 5 minute cycle to work suits me just fine but sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone.'

Raising funds for Saxum and two other charities gave her three good reasons to do it again although after the same ride last year she had threatened, 'Never again!'  Determined to spend more time in the saddle and less pushing her bike she succeeded in raising a satisfying sum for each of the charities.

Sponsors were encouraged to donate online as the money was sent direct to DHEF and Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation. It saved everyone time and administrative hassle.

A thought repeated by so many of our fudraisers is captured by Suki who walked the last leg of an ancient pilgrimage route from Sarria to Santaige de Compostela, 'It was an amazing and rewarding experience in itself and the fact that we were able to raise funds for [Ashwell] really added to that. What we were doing was great and I wish more people knew how to do it and were aware that the opportunity was there.'

You shop, they give

There are easy ways of raising money for DHEF, from home and at no extra cost to yourself. Many of the UK’s best known retailers, such as Amazon, John Lewis, Next, O2 and Sainsbury’s, support Easyfundraising and TheGivingMachine™.

You shop directly with your chosen retailer on-line as you usually would but by using the links from either of these sites each purchase you make generates a donation for your selected charity.  Try it and see.
