DAWLIFFE HALL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

What We Do

DHEF offers activities for women and girls of all ages.
DHEF offers activities for women and girls of all ages. For young people aged between 8 and 16 we run youth centres. Our university residences offer student accommodation with opportunities to take part in additional enrichment activities. Young professional women benefit from personal development and leadership activities. For women and families, we promote family enrichment programmes, home management programmes, and family events such as carol concerts and barbecues. Our conference centre in Glasgow hosts many cultural events. In addition to life skills we are also available to give spiritual support to help each person find God in their everyday life.

Youth

We have three youth centres: Tamezin Club in London, Hillcrest Club in Purley and Hazelwood Club in Glasgow.

The clubs are run by parents and volunteers and offer fun and exciting activities tailored to each age group. The clubs all have the same aim; to promote worthwhile interests and skills, a sense of personal responsibility and social awareness. All the activities and formation aim at helping each girl to grow in maturity, develop her talents, make and strengthen genuine friendships, foster concern for the needs of others and do all she can to excel. Every girl who wants to, has the opportunity to have personalised mentoring sessions so that she can develop a healthy self-esteem and the will to always give of her best.

Students

We are inspired by St John Henry Newman’s idea of university as a time to develop a broad, well-rounded education, which teaches students "to think and to reason and to compare ... and to analyse.”
We work with students in the following DHEF centres:

Ashwell House Students’ Hall of Residence

Ashwell House in north London is a female only university hall of residence situated in a residential side street close to Old Street station, with great public transport links to all of London University’s colleges. It is a friendly and welcoming hall, with high-standard, catered accommodation: a home away from home. Residents are encouraged and supported to seek excellence in their studies, to use their skills and talents in the service of others and to see their work in the larger context of a flourishing life.

Women & Families

Happy people come from happy families and we advocate that the family is the foundation of society. Raising a family and making a home is an art and a science that requires a specific skill set. We promote a range of courses to help acquire these skills. Centres also run events where families can have fun as well.

Each centre has the same ethos and welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels at home and where anyone can contribute with their ideas to compiling the programmes of activities.
